Just like Saskatchewan, Ontario and Alberta, Manitoba opted out of applying a carbon tax.

I share Trudeau's thoughts on this: I find it all really puzzling. This should be a no-brainer. So they'l refuse, the feds will force them to apply one and that's that. I guess the provincial leaders can pin it on Trudeau,  as "his tax" then.. And then Trudeau has to find a way to ensure that the majority of voters support a carbon tax before the next election. Well dosn't look like CST will participate in this CO2 capture space.By the time they get anything up and running there will be a hundred other companies with new methods of CO2 capture.Late to the dance with this BOD.sooooooooooooooooo slow to do anything.When are they ever going to sign a licencing deal to build out their low cost capture methods with a BIG player. wdr2

Not really surprising that Conservatives are taking advantage of Trudeau's weak performance and even weaker principles, he positioned himself as Obama light and they've learned from the GOP. Trudeau has just passed on the opportunity to use carbon as a criteria for border tarrifs in NAFTA2. great question Nafta essentially locked Canada into going along with whatever the US fossil fuel lobby wanted so Trudeau would have needed balls to do anything about it. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/nafta-climate-change-negotiations-1.4238866 However Nafta2 is a new trade agreement and we do have trade agreements with others that don include such lobbyist written sections, so it is possible ...more
