COMPLIANCE PLEADS FOR SUPPORT

The recent article in the Parksville Qualicum Beach News gives a report on the Raven Mine project manager Dan Berkshire " pleading for support" from the Parksville Chamber of Commerce crowd. Nothing instills investor confidence like having the project manager characterized as "pleading for support".

Compliance has done everything except drop $100 bills from a helicopter to gain public support for this coal mine boon-doggle. No social license has or will be granted by the residents of Vancouver Island for this project. IMO

I'm almost positive that Mr. Berkshire was on his knees with his hands held up high, almost as if he was not just pleading, but begging, to bring long term high paying jobs to the Island.   I would say it's close to pitiful, showing of desperation and good will.   Why give the Comox Valley a chance to thrive and not move to Alberta and find real jobs?   Shame on you Mr ...more

Be careful 2guys, some of the people on this board will mistake your sarcasm for truth.  What's happened to our antagonist, chrisale?  Maybe I shouldn't have said that, I might be conjuring the devil. BGT

Hello Chris.   I had no idea there was a separatist movement in BC as there has been for some time in Quebec.  Is that how you feel about being Canadian, or do you describe yourself as a Port Albernian, British Columbian separate from the rest of Canada?   I really don't care how you choose to live your life Chris, that's your choice.   Maybe you and your 600 ...more

2guys.  Get your facts straight.   the petition was about using the railway.   It was signed by people both for and against the mine because all realize that no matter what, the most likely scenario is that the mine will happen, so if it does, it should go by rail. The environmental process is supposed to recommend the best ways to complete a project.  That is what the petition ...more

It's about obstacles Chris.  The fact is, you and your "no coal mine in my neighbourhood" attitude no matter what, is not how you get to a sensible compromise IMO.   You don't want the Raven period.  It's evident in the way you post.   The way you want things isn't always the way you get things.  Life doesn't work that way, and you should ...more
