Mining and B.C. Politics

Interesting article by Les Layne of the Victoria Times Colonist. This is a cautionary tale for all of those who think that the environmental process and obtaining the necessary permits for new mining projects is somehow devoid of politics. With the widespread opposition to the proposed Raven Coal Mine proposal, and an upcoming British Columbia provincial election slated for May of 2013, politics will play a large role in the final decisions on this project, IMO.

Yes, politics will decide whether this mine goes ahead or not.  Does that surprise you?  If so, then you just don't understand life in general.
