Royal Bank of Canada..Distrib/Rec & Pay dates

RBC Direct Investing: This is a reminder about the upcoming KWH.UN dividend distribution. Payment amount per share $0.067 CAD Payment date October 16, 2017 Record date September 30, 2017 Ex-dividend date September 28, 2017 What this means You will receive the dividend payment if you hold KWH.UN prior to the ex-dividend date and do not sell KWH.UN until on or after the ex-dividend date.

You may have possibly had a typo. The first part is correct. The AND condition is wrong. You can sell ON or AFTER ex-dividend date and you will still receive the dividend.  You can do whatever you want on ex-dividend date if you bought those shares prior. That is what the ex means. It means that those who buy that day do not receive the dividend.
