not sure how today will play out

That guy on BNN looked like he swallowed a goat when he was talking about this.  He said he still liked it but really did not defend the company other than to say it is possible that customer net acquisitions can fluctuate quarter to quarter.  He also recommended this at 10.24 a year ago which no one I know would have considered this a top pick at that price last year.

Still no rebuttal from company.

Not sure whether I will wade back in today or not.

There is a company rebuttal posted on yahoo finance. Markets dropping and short pitches are rather painful but the timing is probably correct.

yes i missed the rebuttal but now have read it.  Must say I am not overly impressed with the rebuttal but I do think the damage has been done here and bought at 8.00.  Yield is well over 10% and I think they will do a better job on the rebuttal during the CC next week. Anyways it has been a wild one, and the bonehead moves by trump on steel and aluminum have ot helped so more ...more

Share price turned from red to green with 28 cents up at the last closing minutes is an indication of the company fighting back, but can they keep on buying back like this way? The answer is probably not for long as this would cause a drainage of the company cash flow. My guess is this unit will be facing a bit of volatility til March 8.

just a housekeeping point, companies are not allowed to buy shares back during the last fifteen minutes of the day so that was not them moving the stock price at the end of yesterday.

It was not company buying. It did not show up on canadianinsider.

Buyback won't start until after ER.

You couldn't rule out a friendly purchase then

They were planning on buying back their units for cancelation anyway. Can you pick a MORE CONVENIENT/CHEAPER TIME for them to do so???? Kills to birds with one stone. Brings the price back up to keep it attractive to the banks and they get the shorted units out of the market. The NCIB is what may have been the final step needed to instigate the Short attack???  It would really be interesting ...more

deisman, they need approval from TSX which takes time. They would have bought if the NCIB would have been approved. That is why the timing of this bear raid is perfect. They knew that they had to do it before Q4 results and approval for NCIB.

Sukhi, I'm not blaming management for being part of this. I am always skeptical when a lot of money is involved though.  I have always been under the impression that any company can purchase its own shares/units any time it has the funds/desire to do so. That being said, I believe there are limits as to when and how much they can purchase without effecting regulatory limits.  I ...more

I don't know who those anonymous shorters mightbe, but the timing of the NCIB announcement seemed suspicous all along ! Did someone in Crius knew about this short attack ? Who knows! I'm just enjoying the outcome to this one.
