Crius Energy Trust Tr Unit > Why the selling?

Why the selling?

I'm really surprised how much the stock reacted, consider:
  1. the yield was 16%, which sugested the market was already pricing in a cut (what company maintains a 16% yield?)
  2. the slight cut/deferral or whatever you want to call it was accompanied with confirmation the $35 million improvement plan is on track...that's good!
  3. the company will provide more details next week, we won't be in the dark for long (and obvious it will be positive, because the plan is on track, see #2 above)
  4. the CEO was buying gobs of shares, over $5, less than 2 months ago.
Sheesh, market is full of scaredy cats.  I bought more today and expect it to be back over $5 at least following the analyst day next week.

The yield is still good, but the deferral isn’t.

It's definitely a downer to lose a monthly payer, but if it helps them get their finances in order, it will be good for all holders.  If intead of paying the distribution every month, they are paying down a credit line, it could save them $ on financing costs.  Similar to the HELOC/Mortgage strategy in which one draws an amount from the HELOC to pay down the mortgage, puts their ...more

$5.20 close. It's on its way back. I think a reasonable target this year is $8.40 (10% yield at that level). Interesting one of the analyst comments today suggested that the company could be a takeover target this year. Who knows, the stock is very cheap, so may attract a suitor.

In the Analyst Day slides, Crius compares itself to some other energy companies.  Here is a YTD price and current yield comparison: Company Last Price 12/31/18 Change $ Change % Yield Crius $5.20 $4.57 $0.63 13.79% 16.08% Just Energy $4.74  ...more

The fly in this plan it that the ex distribution day is 2 months AFTER each quarter release.  This isn't at all in the same manner of their peers.  That will cause some real concerns for people and even some brokers that haven't done their due diligence. I spoke with a lady this morning, whose deceased husband had included Crius in his TFSA/RRSP portfolios.  She isn ...more

What you're missing is the date of record won't be until the end of Aug/19, then again on Sept 15/2019 That's how I read it. Alway close to 2 1/2 months after the previous quarter.  GLTA the good folks here

Not true. After the next pay date mid June you will get paid every 3 months not every 5 months. After mid June you will get paid mid Sept, mid Dec, mid March Etc.

Thanx for the clarificaton on California subsidizing solar and whether or not it's mandatory on new houses. In Canada, the mainstream LEFT WING biased media has been stating it is. I believe your statement is more accurate. We can't trust our MSM here.  Sunnyboy. You're right, the distribution will be paid every three months. What you're not seeing is that the date of record ...more

LOL just because you don’t seem to understand something doesn’t mean people who correct you are “Beeking Off”. Again your statement that the distribution will be paid every 5 months is incorrect. After the next pay date mid June you will get paid every 3 months not every 5 months. After mid June you will get paid mid Sept, mid Dec, mid March Etc.

Posting my reply from Kelly Castledine from Investor relations on the new distribution schedule. The distribution schedule has been changed such that the distribution will be paid quarterly. So, the distribution for the first quarter of 2019 (January, February, March), will be paid on June 17 to holders of record on May 31. This has already been declared by the board.   Following this change ...more

So if you knew all this you knew as of Mid June we would get paid every 3 months not every 5 months as you indicated? In other words you were lying just like you accuse Crius of Lying?   Even your statement that you are waiting 5 months is incorrect. You are waiting for 2.5 to 5.5 months. Jan 1 distribution paid mid June is 5.5 months. March 31 distribution is paid mid June is 2.5 months.
Comment by deisman03 on Jan 24, 2019 5:21pm
sb, that's not why sotypical accused Crius management of lying.  He's just stating a FACT that there WON'T be a total of 12 MONTHS DISTRIBUTIONS PAID IN FISCAL YEAR 2019.  You are correct, after the MID JUNE PAYOUT OF A QUARTERLY DISTRIBUTION, the following distribution pay outs will be three months apart.  Figure it out.  GLTA the good folks here

Hi deisman. I was suggesting a bought deal with RBC. If the company has good cash flow, they have a line of credit they can draw from. WHY NOT Keep dividend the way it was ? Also why not wait for the quarter 4 results to announce this ? Other thing in the IR release was the cost savings. If they are already saving costs, why not again keep the dividend unchanged ? Drawing credit lines means you ...more

First off, I'm not an accountant. Secondly, I find quarterly reports and perspectus reading to be extremely tedious but I do my best to wade through the muck and understand it all.  One of the reasons I don't have a large portfolio.  Before management went acquisition crazy this trust was a CASH COW. And yes, it had a line of credit.  It seems you really depend on ...more

Crius tried to change its business model. They do just fine when they stick with what they know.  I don't know what was going through their heads at that time. I think they had their heads in Europe or India and somehow thought they would get in on the ground floor here. They still retain the California portion of Solar, where there is enough sunlight to make it feasible and the ...more
