That did not go well for TS or Hiku.  If there is a close association between LP and retail they CAN NOT sell that LPs product.  So TS in BC will not be able to sell Doja or Aph.  GoBlue

Definitely not the best news when it comes down to HIKU at the moment. However this is a innovative and experienced team of people. A hurdle that can be overcome by HIKU I believe. I’m excited to see what the other provinces come up with.

Hey GoBlue, I would appreciate it if you could explain to a newbie (me..) why this is not good for TS/ doja. I read the media link and I got the impression that independent retail shop (ie. TS model) would flourish under the arrangement. BC Gov simply do not want cannibis be mixed up with alcohol...no?

The new BC rules are good for the TS model as it existed pre HIKU. If one presumes that a large part of the consideration for Doja / TS combination was the financial benefits of vertical integation. In BC where both have their base operations, the new BC rules is not so great. The Hiku retail outlets (Doja+Tokyo Smoke merged entity) will not be allowed to sell Hiku LP product. Also most likely ...more

BC’s choice isn’t the best for Hiku  but I believe there are simple solutions to alleviate its effects such as cross promotional offers between Hiku Brands. Just throwing something off the top of my head. Pretty sure management at Hiku has many more elegant solutions to accommodate BC’s rules.
