Just some more info from redit discusssion

Brands and quality are what insulate margin. Consumers look to trusted brands to provide guidance on what they should buy, or not; what speaks to them, what fits in with the rest of their lifestyle.

We believe cannabis will be no different. There will be a Starbucks of cannabis - a company that successfully creates a certain perception about a product similar to its competitors, that allows them to command a premium for what they’re offering.

We’re interested in creating experiences for people, providing education and knowledge and building community vs being purely transactional. In making the investment in building a brand and community that people know and trust, we’re hopeful that consumers will choose us over the many options they’ll soon have.

This is what every weed company is trying to do.  Sadly nobody is paying attention to Canadian Marijuana Marketing laws to recognize branding weed in Canada is going to be very difficult.  I'm sure HIKU can create a unique experience in their store fronts, but as someone who's been to Holland over 20 times and has been smoking acros the world for over 20 + years, I can promise ...more

Hiku has cash on hand and access to more if need be. They got a facility by the Kelowna airport for a lower price and im sure they're looking to expand production. They are a proven team from past projects and I would imagine this is going to be much the same. A clothing line and product line is going to be massive. Just look how big SAXX underwear is, thats all i wear... Try to look towards ...more

- You have an interesting opinion. I think you’re vastly underestimating the importance of branding and greatly overestimate how difficult branding will be for LP’s which are focused on that angle. Especially one with the know how and prowess that are under the HIKU umbrella. To each their own DD but in my opinion there are plenty of reasons to believe in HIKU’s ability to work the market and it’s ...more

I'm sure HIKU can create a unique experience in their store fronts, but as someone who's been to Holland over 20 times and has been smoking acros the world for over 20 + years, I can promise you that branding is never as important as price or cost.  In other markets it's more viable because of product differentiation, but there are no patents or trademarks on strains this is ...more

What makes you think HIKU will be able to grow PREMIUM compaired to the rest?
Comment by Becker55 on Feb 08, 2018 5:58pm
Stop by their facility, talk to the people behind the scenes and you’ll answer your own question. The “rest” are looking to provide volume. When all you want is volume you’re going to sacrifice quality. Hiku will sacrifice the volume right now for quality and scale up slowly, doing so when selling the product at a premium because it’s a premium product.

I know 10x more about growing then you Im sure!   what is the difference in 20 rooms 100'x100' and 400 rooms @ 100' x 100'? NOTHING just more volume the larger scale can actually produce higher quality because they can offer more strains and try more options to dial it in.

Think its the experience as well as the quality, from reading colorado stats when rec was launched most sales came from new or previously infrequent users (meaning those who dont know unreal from average) Personally I fall into that category havent used for 10 plus years and only will when its legal and clear what Im smoking. Every product whether pop, alcohol, pizza, cars has brands, the ...more
