Tariffs

I'm tired of the tariff talk and this ridiculous 51st state business, just do what you want to do with the tariffs and let's see how it works out on both sides of the border.  I find it sickening that we grovel to the leader of a country we see as a friend but who sees us simply as a resource.

Canada as country only existed because before 1945 was crown asset of the British Empire. and British bankrolled the expansion of US companies and US expansion. in 1900, the British Empire or military was more powerful than the US army

There is a reason British Columbia was called 'BRITISH"  it was so US could not just claim the territories. US bought Alaska from Russia for $1. okay, Either they sell it or the Americans just take it and claim it and put a military post there.

Canada became a self governing country in 1867 following the passage of the British North American Act which united the individual British colonies that existed at that time and enabled western expansion.

Thats kind of a ridiculous statement BlackBear. We benefit so much from having the longest unguarded border on earth, and try telling that to people like me thats invested in American companies whose strong dollar is a real win compared to Castreaus Peso. Heck just tell the few million snowbirds that flock south for the winter to flee the Great White North that we don't benefit. Or how Xi and ...more

The situation Canada is  in now is a direct  result  of  past decisions  to  not  have control of  our own destiny. Not  being  able to supply our  own  oil ( refined products) to the  whole country without  going through  the  us. Not  havingenough spending  on our  military  and  having ...more

Too many years of left of center Libtard governments in Canada are the root of problems that we should be completely capable of taking care of ourselves. I've said from time to time there is no reason we should be paying more than .30cents/litre for fuel in Canada. Instead we import 100s of thousands of barrels a day from places like scumbag Saudi Arabia and scumbag Venezuela at world prices ...more

And why is that logjam? Simple frogland refused an approval of a pipeline being built to supply oil from the west to their own refieries and those of the east coast. So what are they forced to do? Buy from saudi and america. That's frogland politics refuse to let a pipeline being built and tell the rest of the country give us equalization payments from Alberta. I would luv to see the west ...more

Hey jammed log the Con-serv-themselves did nothing to further Oil, Gas & NGL pipelines under Harper.  It was/is Trudeau & Notley !! So if you looking to criticize a party that lacks foresight try "turning around in front of a mirror & take a look at your backside".

Are you telling me that the U.S. doesn't benefit from it trade with Canada?  Canadian oil exports to the U.S. are discounted $10-20 per barrel.  That's a pretty sweet deal. I guess you forgot about the financial crisis. A lower Canadian $ is a boon to resource companies that sell their products in U.S.$

We are rich in Natural Resources !! We gladly sell them to USA, often at a discount because of market forces (not government policies).  American companies buy them because it’s economically profitable.    It’s ridiculous to suggest we’re living off their kindness !! They are living off our resources. Now Trump says/thinks he can just steal them because he’s got a bigger ...more
