Technicals

handbell<strong>Reputation</strong>: A calculation of the weighted quality, performance, and participation scores on a scale of one to ten.</p>")">2 Good question. Let's say TA is better than nothing for TIMING, and does seem to indicate LIKELY direction absent subsequent larger volume and price action in a contrary direction for whatever reason. Market change often follows a quite period low volume, e.g., a "volatility breakout, and when certain price levels are reached which indicators reflect or certain "candlestick patterns" form, interest increases by those who do follow such technical action. Large oaks can grow from tiny acorns. They've got to start from somewhere.

In this computer age, technicals provide a trigger for many, and volume, imo, can be a relative factor. Even in high volume stocks, there is always the potential for someone even bigger to come in and hit "bid" or "ask" figures or to use options in a contrary manner to a current trend, thus modifying the technical picture that was recorded prior to such action.

As a consequence, TA is no guaranty, but it can be an alert as to how participants see a market and are acting as of a particular moment.

So, I guess my opinion would be that yes they do and can reflect the SET UP for market change even in low volume volume situations. Whether they turn out as anticipated can only be determined if there is follow through.

But,

Thanks AU,I certainly am not a technician but I have followed with interest reports from people who are...  It seems easier to understand how it may work when a stock is treading 2 or 3 hundred ks daily...and I suppose it might still indicate a trend or change of direction in a low volume stock....  At any rate, I appreciate your reply.Best to all.
