what is the origin of alluvial gold? there must be some source that is shedding those gold particles, no?

No one knows where the source of the gold at Mkuvia originates.  There are tons of theories but much more exploration is needed.  The present exploration program is covering less than 0.1% of the land package.One geologist thought while I was there that the area was probably a river delta region where multiple streams fed into the Mkuvia.  The Ocean or big lake had its shores there ...more
