Dussault best days behind them

Gene Simmons and Jason Dussault are both intelligent, driven, articulate businessmen, but
the Dussault brand, much like Simmons, is falling behind the times. Ultra-high-end streetwear
is becoming a thing of the past, partially due to economic reasons, and partially because it's
just run it's course. Dussault's branding is strong and he's certainly not afraid to work hard, but
this ship has sailed. My cousin works in the buying dept. at Winners (a discount / clearance dept.
store), and has told me on numerous occasions that the amount of Deuce clothing that comes in
is increasing, and that it sits on the rack for a long time even at hugely discounted prices. That
should tell you everything you need to know right there!

Full disclosure: I work in the fashion business, identifying trends for large retailers. IMHO, Ed Hardy,
Christian Audigier and any similar brands, like Deuce/Dussault, are quickly becoming a relic of
the past. The days of $200 t-shirts and $800 hoodies are over.

I forgot to add - if you look at the long-term chart, which has been a longslope down since June 07 from $1.40 to it's current $0.04, that's prettymuch the trend for high-end streetwear: declining.I do hope Jason ends up starting something else though. Like I mentionedhe's a smart and driven man.

Although I agree that the financial environment is a tough one for high end designers, I disagree that the ship has sailed.  Dussault has introduced a new value priced line that will sell well at a discount...not to mention that they have the backing of a powerful distributor now.  Also, don't forget that his high end line of hoodies were sold only through presale and the entire line ...more

Corfu - I certainly won't argue that Dussault is smart and resiliant, he is.I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say about this brand, while the current financial ENVIRONMENT is indeed tough for high-end designers, that's not what I believe will sink/has sunk this company. It's the fact that the BRAND IS STALE. The brand is based around ultra-premium, very expensive, tattoo ...more

Well...in my day I have seen plenty of can't miss/great companies destroyed by terrible leadership, so my investment strategy centres on the person behind the curtain as much as the company itself.  Consider this, several years ago no one would have thought that Apple would make it, but a guy named Jobs was smart enough and innovative enough to make it work.  Correct?  Jason is ...more

No one is too good to fail, and hopefully that sentiment isn't a part of too many people's investment strategy out there.I absolutely agree about the leadership, and if you got in at 3 cents, well then I'd say you're downside risk is obviouslypretty small :-)The distribution is Canadian-only, as is the TV pilot (it's also just a pilot at this point, no guarantee it will ever ...more

Ok this is really my last post. One more thing - the fact that Gene Simmons is no longer involved is definitely not a positive.GLTA.

Not so fast...why don't you attach the news release that states that Simmons has backed out.  I can't seem to find anything to that effect.  Also, for those of you out there that want to see what the company is really about, go to the website...www.dussaultapparel.com - I see that the company is also designing snow boards for Flow now...quite a major deal...I would wait to see ...more

Here you go: SEC filing: https://biz.yahoo.com/e/090914/duss.ob10-q.html Quoted from the filing: On April 15, 2009, our company entered into an assignment of royalty with Jason Dussault, a director and officer of our company. Jason Dussault had agreed to provide sales and design services under a merchandising license agreement in consideration for royalty payments from 4.5% to 7.5% of ...more

Simmons and Dussault are still very much connected...check out Dussault's website.  As for the release, this was initiated by Conceot One - the new major distributor.  The reality is that they don't like Gene's Moneybag Logo...frankly, neither do I.  The strength in all of this is Jason's stuff.  Have you checked out his blog?  The new stuff looks amazing ...more

Why is it that you keep stating that the company has no US distribution,,,read the following...if anything, come November, the new line will be in more stores across north america than ever before.Dussault Apparel Inc. (OTCBB: DUSS) (the "Company") today announced that its Deuce Collection brand of head wear will be available this fall at an international retail chain with stores across ...more

OK, fair enough they have US distribution for HATS in the discount Deuce line, but not the rest of the collection.A 4000 piece initial order for all of North America doesn't excite me, that's peanuts in the big picture. But I stand corrected, they do have US distribution for their line of discount hats. But the "new line" will not be in more stores than ever before - a very small ...more

You are right in one sense...Jason Dussault is a smart and talented guy.  Nuff said.  My investment is not based in blind faith, of course it takes some faith in all investments - especially where micocaps are concerned - but I am expecting to see strong numbers this fall and winter for this company...and no, I am not just hinging this on the pilot...that's an extra.  Let's ...more

Just a small note to you guys: I spoke with Jason Dussault a few months ago and he very clearly and completely insisted that he will NOT let the Dussault brand die under any circumstances. That is why he has fired nearly everyone and is largely working by himself in the Dayton boot shop; so that he can afford to keep the company alive. While we all know how speculative a company like this can be ...more

Corfu, I respect your opinion about the co. as well, and Dussault himself is very hard NOT to believe in. I definitely wasn't suggesting I was a genius, fashion / lifestyle is just my area of expertise.I just don't believe anyone is too smart too fail, especially as failure first (several times even) is often the path to extreme success down the road, which I believe Jason may someday see.

Mr. FInch - well put. It doesn't surprise me at all that Jason doesn't want to let the brand die under any circumstances. You can tell that he's obviously very passionate about the brand and loves doing it. I'm also entrenched in the demo - late 20's, low-mid six figure income. My argument that the brand is dying is this:- the overall style that he produces - streetwear and ...more
