Grow cycles

just to add some info, the duration of a grow cycle is dependent on your strain and exactly how you choose to grow. Also, yield per plant is dependent on the above as well. You could get away with 2.5 months grow cycle if you go to flower as fast as possible (but that can impact THC quite a bit). 3 months would be the least time realistically and 4 months not abnormal (so 3-4 cycles per year). The grow units are expected to last 20 years (if I remember correctly) but at least 10.

Is 600kg the annual amount they are looking for an license for? At one point the interior photos of a grown unit looked to be at least 10 rows of 15 plants, even on the low side of 100g per plant that would be 150 000g per grow cycle for four cycles. That math adds up. Sale price for that is 3.6 million per year. Cost to grow is pretty negligible, if we assume zero energy cost I would guess around $10 per plant, depends on how they procure and what bulk deals on fertalizer look like.

It wouldn't take a long time to make back the money at all, even at bargain basement bulk prices weed is a major cash crop. Even paying for electricity for high powered lights it is a cash crop. I think where the units don't hold up so much would be commercial production of vegetables. I can understand why the government would choose to subsidize units for food production in the north but even at the crazy prices they pay, the cost of a grow unit will never be paid back with brocolli (spending a million for 20 years of being able to produce fresh greens in Nunavut has other values associated though).

hahaha my math does not add up however, at the low end that is 15 000 grams per cycle or 60kg a year. I have heard of people pulling a pound per plant which would put us closer to 250kg per year, at least for the first while it will be somewhere in between. At $900 000 cost per grow unit that would still only be between 2 and 4 years to pay back (it was 1.2 million per unit with 300 000 revenue ...more
