Its because as time goes on this micro cap market [ penny stocks ] just keeps getting more and more detioriated with less and less investors money coming in.

One huge reason it got do bad is that you can make a decent return in safe stocks and pretty much have been able to since flash crash in 2012. If we see a major recession more money moves into speculative stocks to hopefully hedge some growth back into portfolios (and of course, precious metals mining stocks on the venture lead the way)
