Don't care what anyone says

Shorting is stealing from retailers - FIN.

Not saying it isnt a part of the market, not saying people shouldn't, just saying that I have morals and as much as I want to be wealthy I also want others to.

Short positions are nothing but robbery - you can call yourself an investor, you can call yourself a trader, ill call you a crook.

I can make my gains without runing someone else's :)

brentkosta; How is this ignorant? As I demonstrated, it's not a symbiotic relationship. These parasites don't care if the kill their host.....longs don't need shorts, but shorts can't exist without longs.  Before you call anyone's comment ignorant, provide just one example where a stranger can take your personal property without your knowledge and permission. But it is with consent.....check the documents you signed when you set up your open and marginable account.....

I have in the past. Couldn't find anything in the application forms that even remotely mentions lending my shares to shorts. If it is law, they wouldn't be asking for my consent. Perhaps you can shed some proof from your application form by posting it. Id be interested in the language used.

I'm reminded of that Seinfeld episode where Jerry is at the rental car agency because the car he rented got in an accident with George driving and he's told that the contract he signed only provided insurance when he was driving, not anyone else.....the agent with the rental company says: "Did you read the rental contract"  To which Jerry responds.... "Have you seen ...more

Interesting way of putting it Brent.....I hadn't thought of it that way.  Obviously I don't have an issue with short selling, its part of the game....but I would imagine that some will argue the bank shouldn't be allowed to invest in ways that will have a negative impact on the value of your cash.....and that's what they did during the housing bubble by investing in mortgage ...more

Good point Brent. Kudos. I just didn't look at it that way as my deposit is always guaranteed and protected by third party insurance to I think $100,000.00. Also the banks actions of lending are designed to look after my interests while the brokerage lending of my shares are designed  directly against my interests. In addition,  I deposited my money in the bank with common sense ...more
