I'm not sure how deeply rooted you guys are in the overall nuclear industry, but here is a link to a group of brilliant MIT students working on a pretty cool reactor. iouranium. Oh-yes, this is the future.!. Within the next 20 years a new generation of Thorium powerplants will come into steam, and will graduately reduce and phase-out ALL uranium based powerplants. These reactors will be VERY safe, VERY high efficiency, low cost and only 2% the amound of waist, compared with convintional U-powerplants. Thanks - A 19-minute video worth watching, very clear and well presented. These young people are impressive. And it will take their ideas enough time to develop that current uranium investments will do all right - before they potentially transform the industry.

Thanks JJ. Yes the thorium plants look promising as well...however a complete "phase out"of nuclear will be as fast as our current "phase out"of fossil fuels. Asian countries will be heavily established with uranium-based power going forward, and I know China is developing their own molten design add we speak. However, inevitably the thorium plants will grab traction and you ...more

Someone posted recently that when Nixon was President back in the late 1960's he considered thorium v. U308. He chose the latter for development because of its usefulness in atomic warfare btw India has lots of thorium
