SICPA/GFI Pilots & Missing Authentix Contracts

I suspect that some (most?) of these 11 SICPA–GFI pilot project countries (Switzerland, Romania, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Kenya? – Authentix/GFI dispute, Mozambique, Morocco, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Mexico) represent what has been referred to as “low hanging fruit”. Countries where GFI may have done some pre-SICPA groundwork.

A couple of countries stand out especially when compared to the Authentix customer list which madmax was kind enough to compile
https://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=30489808&srchtxt=authentix
Madmax makes an interesting observation in this post: Up until the end of last year Authentix claimed 15 active countries while the current version of their website reduces this claim to 11 https://www.authentix.com/industries/oil-gas/ which would indicate 4 (recent?) contract losses for Authentix.

The only (for me) easily identifiable contract loss is India (2011) which would bring madmax’s list of 16 countries in line with Authentix’s historic figure of 15.

Brazil (Petrobras)  is notable since it appears on SICPA’s new list of pilots as well as on the historical Authentix (15 country) customer list. I couldn’t find anything relating to Authentix losing the Brazilian contract. Can anyone? Anyhow, something is up in Brazil which given the financial and political upheaval doesn’t come as a surprise. Everyone in this country seems to run into corruption issues.

So, how about a Easter project? Can anyone dig up which 4 countries Authentix seems to have recently lost?

Philippines  is another country of interest. It doesn’t appear on either list but Amon uses it as an example in his recent Atlantic Council panel discussion 62 minutes into this video

Here is a somewhat dated article outlining the (2012) Philippine fuel related tax revenue losses of approximately US$ 700 Mil per year in great detail.

Kenya is clearly one, I had already posted bout this before: Why do you think SICPA just hired this guy in Kenya?  :)))    https://www.linkedin.com/in/henry-nyangaga-158b8b42 Those 2 sets of lists we have now are indeed a great starting point for everyone to start surfing the net in search for evidence of ...more

Still not sure about this Kenya thing. According to this Feb 2015 article https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/Swiss-firm-wins-ERC-contract-to-label-oil-products/-/539546/2612144/-/item/0/-/m5wcklz/-/index.html the previously disputed contract was in fact awarded to SGS. Has it been cancelled since then? SICPA running a pilot would suggest a cancellation / retender but I can't find anything to ...more
