The New York Attorney General wants to shut down the daily fantasy industry in his state. And the daily fantasy industry plans to push back.
On Friday, a rally will be held outside the Attorney General’s office in Manhattan, aimed at expressing disagreement with the decision of Eric T. Schneiderman to declare the playing of fantasy sports for money illegal.
On one hand, it’s a question of New York law and the interpretation thereof. On the other hand, the Attorney General is a politician, who at some point will face re-election. If enough voters make their wishes known on a given issue, it can move the needle, in theory.
The rally is due to begin at 8:00 a.m. ET on Friday. It’ll be interesting to see whether the turnout resembles the line to return Aaron Hernandez jerseys to the Patriots, or whether it looks like the failed effort to get the Jaguars to sign Tim Tebow.
