Race to the bottom

Latest news from the world of alt-weeklies is that the Minneapolis City Pages, the Twin Cities' equivalent of NOW Toronto and Georgia Straight, just published its last edtion this week after 40 years in a once-lucrative major market. Owners simply pulled the plug and walked away. See link. Mr. Brain Knish, whose vision was to consolidate 100 North American alt-weeklies, is still thinking he will assemble a cage full of dead parrots. The dissident shareholders are staging a coup to take over a company that has substantial debt and no assets of any value. Once again, I raise the question: WTF?

Exactly right WTF. I don't understand how MC is even managing to pay any bills and indeed how they plan on surviving until the Special Meeting without a cash injection. WTF.
