This will be halted for months, then likely delisted from TSX. All my shares are gone.

Someone will make a deal to buy MC or the assets of MC (for a cleaner deal) and pay off most if not all of the debt but for shareholders chances of getting any/some money appear slim to none.

I don't see any sucker stepping up as a buyer, @Reallitycheck. The print assets have been too badly diminished during two years of mismanagement, and, based on the category they're in, aren't worth anything, either as a going concern or for potential brand value. The digital assets are worth even less. The cannabis and esports sites pull in fewer than 50k visitors a month, according to ...more

It could make sense to someone already in the business as tax losses maybe worth something, the question is how much as it'd be very a different and a specific situation depending on and based on potential buyers financials and profitability. Based on your analysis not sure employees alone could make a go of it.

You're right on two counts: (1) the tax loss could be useful; (2) unionized employees will never make the pivot to become entrepreneurs, just because they just can't. I'm pretty sure all the obvious potential buyers for NOW and the Straight have already taken a hard pass. Well it'd appear that Zoomer maybe best positioned to benefit from the MC acquisition through a combination of tax loss possible (future) benefits and immediate (major?) MC overhead reduction still retaining whatever existing revenues and picking up some market share essentially for free. Let's see.
