From the full news release:
“Battery Anode Backgrounder
For anode material to be considere
d battery-worthy, the anode must be of high enough quality so that practical active material loadings on the anode are on the order of 10 to 12 mg/cm2 (or higher). In an embodiment of Focus Graphite’s invention, the anodes comprised of silicon-enhanced spheroidal graphite have active material loadings far surpassing these levels, reaching up to 16.2 mg/cm2.”
This patent will enable Focus to produce anodes that are 35-60% more efficient than what is currently being made. The EV companies and battery manufactures are spending tens of millions on research to achieve this.
Not only will Focus be able to produce (with a partner) the best anodes in the world they will be able to lease this technology to other manufactures.
Before this news Focus valuation was the NPV of the graphite profit from Lac Knife (FS study shows it is the highest-grade deposit in North America with cheap power from Hydro Quebec) plus the potential of Tetepisca which is shaping up to be even more profitable. My calculations put the share price (after financing and when the commodities prices recover and the N.A. graphite sector recovers) between $2-$5.
With this news the future earnings stream is at least 10-20 times what it would be just producing graphite.
IMO, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The market cap of Focus is absurdly low. Investors who can appreciate the potential will make an enormous return. Please do your own evaluation of Focus. While I have a lot of knowledge and expertise, I am also a shareholder and, by definition, not objective. And never invest more that you are willing to lose, in any individual company, especially a high risk one like this.
