If you « gift » the shares and it’s in a non registered account, will you be able to claim the capital loss for the total amount invested?

If the shares were purchased from an account that is subject to Capital Gains and Losses (Non TFSA or RRSP) then the simple answer is "Yes".  The "gifting" or "donation" of those shares to your ...more
