friday! newguy.  Super exited. First time stock market.  Dad wants to teach me about money hope I can surprise him!

I'm just curious. You say your Dad wants you to learn about money and you buy 50 shares at a 19c for a total of $9.50. Add to that the $10 you probably paid for buying and then $10 for eventually sell the stock. Just to break even you need a share price of $0.59. Sorry to say your "Dad" has to teach you about "How not too throw money away". Of course that was in jest ...more

If you want to impress your dad, maybe don't buy to put yourself in a loss right off the start, 50shares cost you 9.50 even if the stock doubles you'll be losing money, the cost of buying and selling those shares is double what you paid alone. only way to make sense of it right now is you need to buy much more to average down your cost base. and wait for it to go up.
