Barrick Gold will buy this IMO

Barrick Gold was interested in this just 6 months ago. They wanted a merger at $36 a share. Now it's $11 a share. This is a match made in heaven. Barrick needs a canadian company with some write offs and Barrick is large enough that this mine would only be a small percentage of its overall portfolio. The reality is that Panama needs this mine, and a larger miner needs to step in who can play hardball. Right now, First Quantum has no leverage because Panama knows how badly FQ needs this. If Barrick bought it, then Barrick could simply shut it down and hold out until Panama realizes that 40,000 job loss and 5% GDP = what have we done??? and then reap the benefits.

First you have to understand why Barrick is still trading low! Barrick is known for consistent and successful operation and never did any aggressive acquisition in the past. Definitely they will not buy into FM's troubles lol.

Also, be advised that the President of Panama has ...more

True, FM is done in my opinion. I will only invest in miners in safe jurisdiction going forward. There are too much global risk these days.

You will be missing out on Ivanhoe Mines, IVN,  the best buy out there.

Looks like funds dumping FM bought IVN as it moved 10% today tried to tell them few days back ;) No better land package and grades anywhere.
