Minesa completed the dialogue process to sign the largest formalization subcontract in the country with 160 miners from the Calimineros de California (Santander) company.
Bucaramanga, September 15, 2020. After two years of dialogue and agreement, Minesa and Calimineros agreed on the terms of a formalization subcontract within the framework of the Government's mining policy, which will allow Calimineros to carry out legal mining, preserving the traditionality of this activity in the municipality of California. The next step will be approval by the National Mining Agency (ANM).
This great advance is one more step in the challenge of creating conditions to develop legal mining with social, economic and environmental standards; It is the result of the efficient application of the policies of the National Government, and of the support of the institutions in the mining regions.
“ I want to highlight the management and support of the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the USAID Legal Gold Program, which led us to the participatory construction of the formalization mechanism, which is extremely important for mining in the municipality of California. And I want to congratulate Calimineros, a Californian company made up of 160 miners, because they are taking steps never seen before towards a formal mining that complies with regulations and that respects the mining tradition of the region, ”said Santiago ngel, president of Minesa.
