The primary "gamble" here is will it or won't it get taken out in the short-term at prices well below its intrinsic value.  Although the GCG proposed merger was mildly acceptable in my book, I would've preferred a higher offer.  Better things will happen the longer this stays available as we head further into this gold bull market.
