Market Reaction to another Poor Retail Quater

With two quarters of less than stellar results from the historically strong retail division, what can we expect going forward? The competition of mall based retaillers is fierce. I think the market is starting to realize this on GLN. Stock down 22% so far this year and seeing over 100,000 (5 times normal) shares traded days after results cannot be good. Somebody is dumping and it most likely is not the Skidmores. I belive the retail footprint may have surpassed critical mass. Now we see more stores and lower profits. More stores mean more costs. I always find it interesting that all of the news released blame everyone else other than those running the company when performance is poor, but take all of the credit when results are good...

Historically Glentel's Business Centers had been loosing money for past 15 years. Number of reasons can be attributed to it. Mainly Technically non qualified staff ,emotional attachment to friendship rather than business relationship. Understanding business as complex as Satellite and Digital requires retaining people with caliber and knowledge rather than " be happy you still have a job& ...more
