why are people selling??

can anyone tell me why people are selling a 25.26 when BCE is paying 26.50???

i guess three months is a long wait.  I sold some the first day but kept the most of my shares.  Really wanted to add to other positions i have.  Any lower i will buy back in.

Why not 26.50?   There is some small chance that the Competition Bureau puts too many conditions on the deal and BCE will back out, or the deal will take longer than expected to complete. It is a small chance though.  There has hardly been a ripple of public concern.  Perhaps some of the other wireless companies might try to get conditions attached to the deal.   I expect that ...more

I don't think a counteroffer would be that expensive except perhaps Rogers having to issue more shares since their stock price is lower. There are only 22 million shares OS here so every dollar is just $22 million, lunch money for Rogers/Telus/BCE. Of course there is also a 30 million breakup fee. Having said that, the discount seems to be widening slightly...

Competition board did not say a word when BCE bought 700 Source stores and kicked Roger out. Here Glentel is going to keep Rogers and other small players. I don't see any issue there. It is just the question of time. As per Sedar share holder's meeting id during second half of January (notice period required) and also competion bereau time to process application involved. The Glentel and BCE have entered into a definitive agreement. Payable as to 50% in cash and 50% in common shares of BCE. I thought over this question. Why would anyone sell it below the price when binding agreement says $26.50. Here are the reasons: 1. They need to book gains against tax losses during the December month. 2. They bought it very cheap during early years and are contented with gain. I know of a collegue whoes average price is 95 cents and sold it to book gain during this year. 3. If person needs gains ...more
