The main thing I don't like about Embry is that he uses and advocates the shotgun approach. Again on today's program he emphasized against trying the rifle method. So he prefers to own dozens of companies. But to my mind this negates to a large extent any skill or expertize he may have in the area of junior gold stocks. Better to use that skill to narrow it down a bit to a lesser number of the better stories. You either have the talent or you don't!

John Embry is well respected in the junior area and has been around a long, long time. His investing method of owning a basket of stocks is the only way to successfully invest in juniors. Sure some of you might argue because you scored with ARU or NOT or any other of the handfull of winners and if you were lucky enough to be in one of these plays well congrats because the odds are it won't ...more

Further to my conversation I might add that a lot of the letters that I receive in my email from different houses have been pretty quiet lately on recommending junior miners because a lot of them if not all of them have been taking it on the chin lately. Just have to remain focused on the big picture to get a good nights sleep. That's all.

I have to disagree with you that Embry's way is the only way to be successful. Rather than investing in a hundred greenfield or early stage companies because you like the management or consider their land-holdings to be prospective I prefer to look for companies that have pulled good assays from holes punched into a good-sized geophysical anomaly. In otherwords they have something promising ...more
