Interesting rally ahead of tomorrow's financials

Somebody is betting that GFS will have improved earnings tomorrow. That was quite the 2nd half run today. Let's hope they're right.

The patch is relatively slow for most services with the exception of the usual pre-break-up rush. When times get tough, Halliburton and Schlumberger will discount below the little guys ability to break even and the only iron moving will be red or blue. I wouldn't be surprised if GasFrac is toast by October.

Although I agree with you that Haliburton and Schlumberger will discount to try to keep their machines moving, I don't see rigs switching too quickly. They have the guys they like to work with, and are comfortable with. The discount would have to be substantial as Hal & Schlum are both only average service providers to the mid tier drillers.   It will be interesting to ...more
