Bullboard - Stock Discussion Forum Great Bear Resources Ltd. GTBAF

Great Bear Resources Ltd. is a Vancouver-based gold exploration company focused on advancing its 100% owned Dixie project in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. A significant exploration drill program is currently underway to define the mineralization within a large-scale, high-grade disseminated gold discovery made in 2019, the LP Fault. Additional exploration drilling is also in progress to... see more

Drill fences

Perhaps someone could advise that a Drill Fence is?
Comment by BILLMINER on Oct 12, 2019 12:58pm
It is drilling a few holes usually from one location at different angles and bearings . Picture some shooting an arrow from one spot at different targets . Ie : left, right , up and down .

I think we will see one more two drills added very soon and continued drilling on the hinge zone . They have traced that zone for 500 m . Vein swarms hosting very high grade gold . Drill deep boys that’s where the honey is.

I believe in this case you have 14 holes in a row , think the top rung of a horizontal fence . And then under those you have another row, may be 100 meters below the top rung , but maybe it's 200 meters or 300 meters and on and on.  It's a grid

They normally are used to delineate a block for a resource compilation but the distance needs to be less than 50 to 40 m to be compliant or more accurate, please corrected me if I am wrong. It’s a good way to cover a lot of ground and if they hit a high grade area they can zoom in on it with infill drilling. I am looking forwards to the results to be honest. GLA

The sept 30 nr talks about 14 drill fences and in fig 1 of that nr it shows the location of the drill fences. 1-3 drill holes per fence. Some are from the same set up and some step back to intersect deeper. Different bearings as well .

I think BILLMINER's description is correct.. it is common practice in drilling because they have to build a platform to mount the drill on and that has to be secure and able to withstand the drilling so it takes some construction.. and then rather than drill one hole from one platform and then move on and have to build another one just for one hole they drill several holes from one platform in ...more

Everyone was right in one way or another. The fence they describe is basically an array of holes to target the zone from different set ups ( some holes from the same set up) . Not really a fence at all just a boat  load of holes lol

What I find interesting is that they must be getting visual clues ( VG ? ) about the mineralization because they certainly can't be using assays as a guide to determine if they are drilling in the right place or not. I realize that they see a certain type of rock but just because they are in the right rock doesn't necessarily mean that rock will run gold. I would like to believe that every ...more

Goaweigh: Good points. Here's my take on what's happening. The entire Dixie Project Zone (yellow colour on maps = felsic tuffs) is the Deformation Zone, where the LP Fault and the North Fault are the outer margins. Displacement along these faults will result in gold being deposited. However, the best locations for gold to be deposited are near the margins of intrusive rocks, located either ...more

Thanks for giving it a shot. So they've narrowed it down to the magins along each fault but still it's such a massive area you could go broke if you're drilling blind, or not blind maybe but drilling 20 holes ahead of your assays can get costly unless you know you're in the right zone for reasons other than an assay. And then there's the " marker " they've refered ...more

They staked and acquired this property because they saw a regional fault from airborne geophysics and previously drilled logs showded a high degree of alteration in the rocks and large intervals of anomalous gold in the half gram range. Now they take a close look at geophysics like diabase mentioned and see perhaps some crosscutting structural features. Low and behold they drill a little deeper ...more

Thanks a lot. We have a ton of money so I'm not concerned and I really believe it's only a matter of time that we tag into something that's quite extraordinary. Hope you all enjoy your day.

I remember an earlier NR where they explained that with the LP drill core they can see the mineralisation / gold, I believe this is why they were able to tell us in the Sept 30 NR that the BR, Yuma and Auro were all part of the same system.. as they reported this before the results came back from the lab(s) "..New observations have transformed our understanding of the LP Fault ...more

I believe they have lots of clues they use to indicate whether they are collaring the holes in the “right” rock and location, before their assays are received, other than just VG. 1. Stratigraphy:  The rocks likely occur in a predictable sequence.  I won’t pretend to know what that sequence is, but by now they likely do and would use it as a guide.  The “marker” unit is important ...more

Instead of Newmont selling red lake could they not just buy the bear-Rimini deposit if it reaches surface and it is big enough, they have all the infrastructure to mill it as an open pit. It would be a lot cheaper than the underground operation they have there at the moment. It would give us a ton of cash to play with.
