Don't give me the spin-off

Blew out my GBR position at 9.25 with no misgivings because I don't want spin-off shares that don't trade. Been there , done that for better or worse. Buying back newco May 5 as I believe this is a set up for clean buy-out down the road. Just my opinion. Great play

My take on this is quite the opposite. I am willing to "gamble" a bit with a drop in share price on May 5, but if that happens I think that will be nothing but a fluctuation which will correct itself shortly.  However, owning stock that in the future might give a NSR yearly, without having to do anything else but to sit back and relax, is something I want to at least have the ...more

I expect a temporary pull back because I suspect that some of this recent pop in share price has been driven by people buying just to collect the Spinco dividend. However I'm not going to get cute and sell just because it MIGHT pull back after the ex dividend date, for two reasons. 1) Why wouldn't I want to receive the spinco shares when they cost me nothing and I expect GBR stock to go ...more

Isn't that called "cutting off your nose to spite your face" Obviously it is your decision and we all try to do the best for ourselves, but the spin-co shares were free, so even if you couldn't at the moment trade them, so what. You weren't losing anything by it, well in reality you actually were, since they are expected to be worth what we are worth today, when the 2% NSR ...more

So you plan to pay 15% capital gains taxes (in US - I assume whatever jurisdiction in which you reside will also have a tax on associated capital gains), and hope to get back in at a price that offsets the tax penalty?  At 15%, and assuming you have a cost basis of $0, you will need Great Bear to drop to $7.86 just to break even.  I'm curious what you have planned to offset this ...more

Personally, I was hoping for tradeable GB Royalty shares as I would be buying as I believe their value will increase as the project develops and they will increasingly be attractive to royalty companies.  But, if they're not tradeable I'm just trying to understand the implications. So come May 5, I will own be the owner of GB Royalty shares and somewhere that will be registered ...more

iDit, I don't argue with dolts that don't understand date of record. There is a train leaving at sundown, be under it.

I got just shy of 5K spincos. I am happy for each and everyone of them. They will be worth a lot in just a few years time. Anyone selling pre spinco because bragging rights needs a thorough head exam. Sorry, but that is a fact.

iDit, been in and out of GBR maybe 8 times since 2.50/share.  Exponential gains along the way. I don't need a pimple popper trying to make his point about somebody's timing.  Get back to your practice account.
