Hecla Mining Co > VGCX spill video, crashed meeting.

VGCX spill video, crashed meeting.

Why is this here?  HL has nothing to do with anything with the VGCX loss of containment? True. But. I am very certain that any workings (exploration or producer) in the Mt Haldane First Nations radius of the VGCX incident will be under the microscope.

The Silver trail will likely be full of people and equipment probably not seen since the first prospector when through with a mule.

I can imagine hords of eco tourists, disaster tourinsts, civil engineers, government officials, First Nations and so forth travelling up the silver trail or flying overhead to see the site.

CBC video report of the crashed YTG meeting below (includes live shocking footage of the slide).  The cat skinner was one lucky operator.

The current  HL Keno Mill and mine portal workings themselves are enclosed sites.

Not in the news so far are the old Elsa tailings.  These old tailings were just pumped into the valley below (but upstream of Mayo) behind first one contaiment dam and later a second one.  That some of the tailings solution escaped is evident, just walk around downstream.

The reason I am mentioning this is that I bet any company doing any sort of mining/drilling/milling in the vicinity of Mt Haldane will be subject to increased oversight from public and government officials.

Some may shut down operations.

In the case of HL there should be no possiblity of any backlash or any possible perception of a lack of due diligence.  The Keno Hill mine is of major importance to shareholders and remediation moving forward.

I am not HL PR but if I was mine manager (and no I am not interested lol) I would be sending my team out to document and record every site upstream, downstream and ground water for natural contamination and historic workings incl the Elsa tailings.  I would not want to give any one the opportunity to hint, if there is contamination, that it came from current HL or historic workings.

Is there a happy ending to this one can only hope.  Best.

Possible correction.   It is possible CBC inserted footage from another slide in the video?  Not sure as the footage appears on some sites to not have text attached? Best

Yes, that's the SSRM slide I mentioned on 6/26. It's in Copier, Turkey.

Thanks Roberto for the update and correction. Further reading is only if your thinking hey it's my coffee break and I want to read something (anything?) My investments do not include VGCX but I do feel for the shareholders. It was (read was) the largest play in the Yukon.  This will have hurt many retail investors, perhaps some here,  as retail was perhaps the largest investor ...more

Ah, the annual fire scare, actually a pretty normal event in the bush, sometimes severe, sometimes not so much. Decades ago when I lived up there for many years they used to go around with buses and stake trucks rounding up 'volunteers' to fight the fires. Number 1 stop was the beer parlors! Over on the VGCX bullboard there's a post titled "Here is very good case study on a HL ...more

Anyway, now that HL's back in the $4s, and there seems to be little 'Victoria effect' on the stock, just a normal sort of downward trend  I'm starting to get antsy again ... flip a coin for a possible quick July blip flip? It's only money. I'm dippin in.  It's sort of mid price. :)  LF back on line along with KH hopefully showing positive net $ next Q ...more

[HuskySW]: I'm dippin in.  It's sort of mid price. :) I did too, a couple of days ago, quite a few thousand. They're free anyway. Positive move - so far - but you never know ... there was also a positive blurb on Yahoo today by an analyst based on cash flow, whatever that's worth. And sentiment is what often drives these things, not results. We'll see in a few days when ...more

If one looks at the short term blips there does appear to be a pattern regardless of what is actual, sort of like an algo. ;) I am not to familar with Montana but beleive your right that HL is still looking at this.  I think that Montana needs to re-evaluate the situation as the case against Mr. Baker was eventually dropped.  The whole thing appeared to be political? "Here is very good case study on a HL failure".  I know right?  I saw that too and thought the same thing and had a few choice words untill I realized it was the VG Heap Leach they were chirpin on about.  I understand though, as this for VG investors is a disaster and one has "trust" that all will be OK.   Failures can happen to any mine it's how it' ...more
