I am not surprised at this move and dont trust Klimanov and Severstal. Very surprised that some people want to believe, almost like a spouse who has been cheated on. These guys are rats till the end, but they missed the boat as no way they can float Severstal Gold ipo anymore.

What do you mean they can't float an IPO?  I was under the impression that even though they don't have full control of the shares of HRG that they can bundle them together with the other Severstal Gold assets and sell of 20-30% of the total company under an IPO.  Have I missed something?  thanks for your help proud.

i think he means the "market" does not trust them, thus in his (prouditalian's) opinion it will not fly.

sorry to be so vague. In my opinion, with the market the way it is, and gold heading down, Severstal has missed the window that they had.Idont think there will be demand to float Severstal gold IPO. Its easy to say we are worth 4 bil, but nobody will buy it especially with the risk of Severstal as a main shareholder.

I don't think that the window is finished.  Although I expect a continued bearish market, I also think that gold will continue to hold its own which in the worst case scenario will be seen by most as a very attractive option.I think more and more attention will be given to gold miners as they are some of the few companies that will be in growth positions with strong balance sheets.   ...more

I agree with discern3. Gold prices are just taking a breather and the notion of window of opportunity (let alone it being 'missed') is totally misleading. Severstal has excellent tail winds on this. I have read many investment bank reports and all of them either have very high valuation of Severstal Gold or are very bullish on the IPO as they think it will unlock the value for ...more
