Things are heating up in Russia
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-12-07/billionaire-prokhorov-seeks-to-create-top-3-gold-producer-in-2011-merger.html
OAO Polyus Gold
, Russia’s largest producer of the metal, plans to merge with a global rival as early as 2011 to become one of the world’s three-biggest miners of the commodity, billionaire owner
Mikhail Prokhorov
said.

OAO Severstal

KazakhGold Group Ltd
.
If Russian miners begin taking steps towards greater international transparency, then their value will begin to match their peers. If they do, then HRG will no longer be valued against Russian miners, but other producers. With a flood of attention, the Russian sector could heat up rather quickly, just like Africa, Yukon,. . .

It would not surprise me too see Polyus merge with Severstal. As much as Putin talks of Russia being more friendly in regards to foreign trade & financing, IMHO I think the merger of the 2 Russian companies would entice all involved by

Good theory. Fact is that Moscow is the most invaded city on the planet. Small wonder they don't trust anyone but their own
