What reason could there be for this kind of volatility today?
How does it work?
Can two parties manipulate a SP selling back and forth?
Am I missing something?

I suspect the volatility is created to make Russia look bad, so to build unethical perception. There is article in Globe and Mail, point direct this group people. It takes two or three people make stock and go and up, volume means nothing because you can trade with stock every two minutes. The people who manipulate SP use CIBC
