South African oil production JULIAN LEE | JUNE 2011 | SOURCE: Africa Sourcebook   South Africa produces a small amount of crude oil. Most of this is located offshore either in the Bredasdorp basin or near the maritime border with Namibia. Block 9 in Bredasdorp contains three fields – Oribi, Oryx and Sable – which make up most of the country’s production.   PetroSA – South Africa’s ...more

Robnhood, You seem like an intelligent person. Can you please answer the following questions: 1) How many shares has Mr. Mello sold of HRT in the last 36 months? 2) How much is GALP spending to participate? 3) How much money does HRT presently have? 4) What is HRT's cash per share? 5) If HRT hits on any of their Namibian oil prospects, what do you think HRT's stock price will be? 6 ...more

Is this a quiz?  1) I have no idea how many shares MM has sold. I don't have access to Bovespa insider trades. I know he has sold a ver small amount in Canada. 2)Galp is spending 100 million. Pales beside the 1 billion that TNK has spent. 3) HRT as of 4th Q 2012 had approx 1 billion $BRL. 4) As far as I can tell HRT is trading right now at just about cash, but has a very high burn rate. 5 ...more

Robnhood, 1) I've been told MM has not sold any shares in the last 36 months.    I hope you agree that this is a good sign. 2) $100 million for 18%.   Another good sign for HRP that someone believes that there is oil and is willing to committ $100 million. 3) Yes, $1 Billion.  Another good sign that HRP has cash in the bank.   Many TSX companies don ...more

Whats the story on PDQ Wisee? Good prospect? Thanks!
Comment by Wisee on Mar 30, 2013 12:47pm
Read PDQ's latest press release. It's up 80% in the last couple of weeks on good volume. I believe HRP will see an >80% upward move when we get closer to results. Wisee

1) The main reason I am in this stock is because MM believed his own HS. 2) !00 million is not a lot for a fairly large oil company that likes to take gambles. 3) That is 1 billion BRL's not dollahs. 4) which equals arond 85 cents a share. Not a steal as it burns money fast. 5) that remains to be seen. $5 a share equals a lot of dough with this junk stock and its huge float.  So far one ...more

Robnhood,  I've been at this investing game a long time.   Please see my profile of when I joined.  There are risks with any stock you buy, but I love the risk reward ratio for HRP.  Just so you know...A $100 million investment is a lot of many for any company, and companies don't gamble $100 million.  GALP did their due diligence, so did HRP when they acquired UNX ...more

LOL, wisee, I've been at this game a long time as well, and have learned to trust nothing of what you hear and 1/2 of what you see. What I hear is great oil there, what I see is no oil and a plunging stock price.  Obviously the people that count don't see it your way.  $100 miilion for Galp is all relative. That is not a back breaker for Galp.  You casually ignore the one ...more

Until the shorters are finished on their own accord, or they're scared off, HRP's sp won't be decided by it's intrinsic value. Both you chaps are no doubt experienced, how about giving those that aren't your estimate at which point this is going to turn around so we know when to get back in or add to our poitions. Many Thanks!

Robinhood states "It is also noteworthy that they did not put one cent into Namibia, although I'm sure they had front row seat."   This would, at first glance, appear to be a valid arguement. But it ignores the fact that TNK-BP was bought out recently by Rosneft. These negotiations have been ongoing for several months during 2012-2013 which happens to be in the same time ...more

Hard to know if the sellers are shorts or not. Doubtful at these prices unless they know something that most participants do not. Shorting it after it has fallen over 90% would be a lot late and since they are drilling two wells , would make shorting now very high risk.  IMO it is not shorts, but one or two very large holders who want this thing off of their books.  Also if you look at ...more

No one knows when or if this thing will turn around. Anyone who claims to know is a liar.  Same goes for any stock. I know when this stock will start going higher. When it stops going lower. Very simple. Taking some rainy Sunday time to catch up on PDAC time speakers on BNN, a few guys that usually have the best ideas, suggested the continued jr resource selling was from Funds who's ...more

what a load of c_ap! do you just open your mouth and let your belly rumble? according to your logic only 11 companies on venture exchange will make it .if so what are you doing here? i think if you do some research you will find 10% of companies will survive or be taken over which is not great(meaning over 300 companies will make it).........11 indeed........

i think if you do some research you will find 10% of companies will survive Survive does not = find an economic ore body. They may survive on the backs of shareholders for a while. Well it you listened to the PDAC BNN timeframe speakers, they suggest 600+ V listed Co's need to just disappear due to 3 simple facts 1) are they cashed up? 2) will they find an economic ore body? 3) has mngmngt ...more
