2 Source Rocks for Murombe

From Wingat PR:

The information obtained, coupled with the results of preliminary studies of all data
collected from the well, allowed HRT to identify two well-developed source rocks,
which are rich in organic carbon and both are within the oil-generating window.
Also,
the well encountered several thin-bedded-sandy reservoirs that are saturated by oil.

These source rocks present in the well
can charge reservoir intervals of other prospects identified in the license, including
Murombe Prospect, which will be drilled next.

Good post, but not worried about Namibia as much as the Solimoes.  No oil in the jungle means no early revenue which makes you wonder about the Polvo motivation.  Namibia is years from production even with a big hit.

HRT is in the exploration cycle where drill results drive SP. Had commercial hydrocarbons been found....have to go thru the Development cycle, then Production cycle...if not bot out b4   This decision was also supported by the increasing concentrations of hydrocarbon shows present in the well below of the depth of 1,500 meters. I assume the shows were from the drilling mud.....how did ...more

May not have known there were shows in the mud until the mud was processed in Luderitz which was a reason for the Maersk tug trips back and forth.  Just speculating with this one.

They would have known from the mud returns as they came in over the shakers and collected cutting samples. The mudloggers would have seen the flourescence on the cuttings indicating oil shows. An oil based mud system is usually made from of diesel plus barite, etc. This is completely different from 38 API crude. They are running a tight hole. HRT is in the hunt now. Take tthe PR as you wish but I ...more
