Source Rock Question

If the source rock is trapped with out any outlet to reservoirs ie all reservoirs empty does this mean no oil?

or is it still traped in the source rock.

An empty reservoir does not automatically mean that there is no oil. The oil migrates over a very long timeframe which makes it obvious that a lot depends on the timing of all involved factors. Basically you have a filled reservoir above a source rock that still contains HCs. Usually the HCs find their way sooner or later its just a question of how much migrates at which time and to which possible ...more
