nice runup as we approach ex dividend day

This is a sweet trade every 90 days.  No use getting greedy so took my profit and have moved to sidelines.

one more trading day to get distribution for those that care.

I love the fact the share price has come down but who in the hell sells the day before a dividend payout? Am I missing something here but tomorrow at the end of close is the date yes?

When the price rises such that selling gives multiples what the dividend would, then it is a good time to sell.  The stock was at $4.35 a month ago.

Granted but one could keep the multiple and also get the dividend. The volume does not support the hypothesis that some are selling just to get the multiple. Even if I sell at a .10 loss on Monday, the dividend gain is greater. Stock price would have to simply plummet and that does not seem to be the case. JMHO.

In this case after buying below $4.75 it was more profitable to sell close to $5 on ex-div day than wait and take the div.  The option is now open to buy back in $0.25 lower or redeploy elsewhere.

I totally agree with you that in some cases it makes more sense to take the payout if you sold at $5.00 on March 13 if you paid somewhere around $4.75. If you had lots of shares that would make perfect sense. What I was commenting on initially was why anyone would sell on the day of the EX Dividend date.  Now here is where some people get confused and this detail is important to all and I am ...more

It seems you are still confused . The last day to buy and get the div. was on march 13. Ex div was mar 14,  that means you are buying without the div.
