KAT revenue: copper $6347/t x $300,000=1.9 b

cobalt $57500/t x 30000=1.72 b. total 1.9+1.72=3.62 b.This is world largest mine ever as far as revenue is concerned.

Oh btw Bullshat look at TRQ (Turquoise Hill Ltd) stock. Given that this company had just over 2 B shares outstanding how they have a stock price of just over $4. Not just that they also have 1.2 B in revenues. KAT has about 1.9 B in shares outstanding they are improving the cost structure of the mine to yield an operating expense of at least $1.65 and they are going to produce 300,000 Tonnes of ...more

Doesn't matter who own the share. The revenue/loss/profit is split equally on a per share basis. Majority ownership gives more flexibility on how things are allocated and 100% of the decision making process.

Katanga owns 100% of Katanga so ALL profits/losses etc are reported as such to this public company. Glencore happens to own 86% of Katanga and will be reported as such on "their" corporate books. Not unlike you and I who own point 0000001 % (or so). Glencore does NOT sweep anything from other Katanga shareholders for accounting purposes. Revenue for Glencore actually has to be adjusted ...more

In addition, Glencore gets to write off any losses that incur as they must report the investment in Katanga at lower of cost or market. I suspect this might be one reason they are keeping the company public. Please recall JDS Fitel buying Uniphase. JDS did not loose that $5b in one year. They simply had the large loss in share value of Uniphase from the time they purchased the shares to the value ...more
