I just know Glencore owns both so when one goes down you worry about the second foot dropping. it looks as though there is nothing to worry about after the call but to say it has nothing to do with KAT is not completely true

Just checked most of Cobalt producers are trading FLAT or UP , Kat is almost the only one down big...it's  1) bad ER? (production cut...etc.) 2) Glen related?  3) Trade war (China US) - Macro ? -:(

1) Economic slow down in China 2) Trade war 3) No cobalt production this year due to defect cobalt dryer 4) A possible rights issue by Glencore due to bad earnings throughout the rest of the year 5) General disappointment with overall development of cobalt and copper market

People need to get a bit of perspective.  3-4 cents is nothing and the volumes are still subdued.   Do not underestimate how dramatic shutting Mutanda is.  That is 27kt of clean cobalt (i.e. not produced by a Chinese owned mine that may exploit Chinese labour) being yanked from the market.  That is an enormous number and could very well be the catalyst that starts another round ...more
