As reported by BBC today there is some unrest in PNG; I hope this is not affecting KNT & will not interrupt the progress company is making with stage 3 expansion. KNT has a good relation with local land owners & renegotiated higher royalties (last year I believe) for local governments was also a part of the plan to create stable environment for this mine to operate in……:  
“A series of shootouts between rival tribes over a disputed gold mine has left at least 30 people dead in Papua New Guinea, police said on Monday.
Security forces have been given emergency powers to stop the fighting - including the use of "lethal force" - according to the country's police commissioner.
Alcohol sales have been banned and an overnight curfew is in place, he added.
Unrest had been brewing near the Porgera gold mine in the country's central highlands ever since members of the Sakar clan settled on land owned by their rivals, the Piande, sometime in August……”

I just left PNG today and am now in the Solomons. The fighting has been going on for about four weeks but has increased to the point that both tribes have about 200 warriors each. One tribe moved into another tribes land and tried to get into the open pit, violence started. It has been guerrilla style fighting but is getting bigger.It is thought that around 100 rifles are scattered amoung the

The mine is Porgera which is not near KNT
