What are the chances of a Takeover?

There has been a number of recent buyouts of Junior Oil producers...it would seem this stock would be a prime takeover candidate at these prices. I might assume the dividend payments, would lessen the chances of a takeover and know that Mgt. can put other safeguards in place. I have not been on this board long and have not seen a discussion on this, but I have a nice postion that I obtained prior to the recent increase and I would hope to be able to let this ride without some large company snapping it up. Why wouldn't Shell or some other major already in the area try a takeover? Here is another article today, that prompted this post.

Merger - not yet ... Still need to complete our merger with the partners ... My guess would be by Oct.  .. Now, once this transaction is complete then it's open season; much less complicated... However, I would like Mart to fully develope this field first  -- as for the share price, I believe any dips would present an excellent opportunity to add to your position .. Finally I hear

Oops ... I meant takeover ... Merger with partners will happen soon ... Drinking and texting can be difficult at times .. Anyway, can't wait till Aug. 8th.. Keep the faith, this company has come a long way!

Would a merger put an end to the quarterly dividend?

I do not believe so. The owners of the partner companies want a way to get money out of the companies. Dividends is the short term solution and a sale of the merged company is the final solution (get a better price for the combined assets once it is nearer full operation).    At least that is my understanding of it.    JFF7

Some posted on this thread have been talking about of a "merger with the partners" to occur before the year of the end. Apologies for my ignorance, but what merger are you talking about? is there any agreement in place?
