Got some shares at the end of the day... I better get the Divi.... cause now I am way over weight and very nervous... when can I sell and still collect the Divi?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!   not this again.  Ex-Dividend date is the 12th.  ON THE 12th IT IS EX-DIVIDEND---all DAY LONG.  So can sell on the 12th and get the dividend. It's that simple.  I have NO idea where someone came up with the 13th from.

Thanks for the help... I guess, I just look at it like what's stopping someone from buying every dividend stock for the 2 days then selling it... I just kinda thought dividends were for holding while you wait.... if you say found 10 different stocks with 10 different dividend days you could make a good yeild..  and yes having 50% of my portfolio in a Junior Venture Oil company based out ...more

If you think your going to make a nickel you better re think because it will drop by a nickel on the x dividend date. Do you think investors are stupid?

Yes it may drop after ex-divvy day but I believe next news release will move the share price a lot higher than the 1.54 level... That's of course the macro economic data (is.. ECB, fed, china) doesn't throw us for a too big of a loop.   Cheers.  JL

Or let's just say today is the last day to buy in order to get the $0.05 dividend.   Hopefully we also get positive news from the current drilling of the UMU-10 well and/or production update for August.   Any positive news should deflect possible selling tomorrow which will be ex-div day.  Personally, I believe there is too much potentially positive newsflow to sell at these ...more
