How can this happen......

How can a stock trade down over 10% on no news (that I can see) and also be off over 25% in just over a week on no news. What the heck gives here?

What do you mean "no news" 1) As per the company, the AGIP line "remains closed for maintenance" should be up next week...next week came and went...so the news is the same, the only access to market is closed. 2) Shell and ENI have both announced full closure of pipelines due to theft approaching 60% of flow. 3) Local disgruntled ex-militia, excluded from amnesty program ...more

Thanks terrior. I did not get a news feed of late on these events in my BMO investorline account. The last news I was feed was back on march 12 regarding the dividend. Nigeria is a real nut house of a country. Can you imagine 60% theft.....now that is hard on the margins! When you say take Mart out are you worried about a possible privatization effort by the government or something? You seem like ...more

I certainly cannot comment on how Mart might be taken out, having not been able to se the contracts of arrangement between the companies. But not having seen the contracts I equally cannot say that the only way out is a merger as one might conclude from earlier discussions on the stock bulletin boards. What is documented is a unhappiness or dissatisfaction with the staus quo. Terr

Many are SPOOKED by other company's news - e.g. pipeline shutdowns --- 60 - 80% losses to theft in pipelines.  Combine with no news on our current pipeline woes, Probable poor quarter reports coming.  Not very encouraging!

Personally, I would have preferred that they raised cash via a private placement instead of borrowing now.   I remember when Oilexco had loaded up on debt, ran into pipeline delays and then the fall in the price of oil by about 25%.  The shorters squeezed them so hard, so fast.  And then of course, their loan was called and they died.   As far as I can tell, we are setting up ...more

are you daft? You'd prefer a dilution as opposed to debt?  Short squeezes? Have you seen the short count on Mart?    Almost non existant.  Risk vs reward? They are set to double thier production this year and have already pullled back 20% off the highs.  Ok, you are daft.    JFF7
