div dates are wierd
The news release re: the MMT dividend states that "the dividend is payable July 18th to shareholders of record at close of business on July 10th. The ex-dividend date is July 16th."
Am I missing something or is this a mistake? Shouldn't the ex-date be 2 biz days before the record date, in this case July 8th ???

You are right - the ex-dividend date should be July 8 if the record date is July 10. Probably just a typo that needs to be clarified.

It was just poorly worded.
One has to buy shares by the end of the day on July 10th in order to have the shares in their account on the 15th, the day before ex-dividend day.
They should not have said "shareholders of record" in relation to July 10th. That would apply to July 15th.
