Deal or No Deal?

What is the opinion here? Think the financing for the deal will be announced by weeks end?

they may either announce that it's a go because I don't think financing is a problem or they will say they need more time to complete their dd. If they've completed their dd, which I think would be quite the undertaking in such short time, they may back out based on uncertain liabilities pertaining to cleanup, infrastructure rehabilitation and the risk of continued pipeline attacks.

Gibbons, I am quite certain that MW knows all too well about pipeline attacks, downtime, clean up etc pertaining to its own operations in Nigeria.

Exactly what I was thinking. Who knows this better than the locals who own MW and why would they make an offer then do DD? They already know more than MMT about this project, they have the local government connections, the local bank connections and connections with other wealthy Nigerian oil executives who each have their own connections. Wouldn;t they already have done any needed additional DD ...more

I don't think the issue is whether or not they know about them, that they do is pretty much a given. The issue may rather be what to do about the laibilities associated with cleaning up Shell's mess. It is not a little mess and it comes with a monsterous tab should the liabilities transfer to new owners which has been the case in other like situations.

I'm not a betting investor like you are. Why is sp where it is if it was a simple matter like you say? Obviously there is hair on the deal somewhere and I believe it has to do with determining the cost of restoring dilapidated infrastructure and environmental cleanup. Recall in the last CC that MMT said infrastructure data was just then being released by Shell. The $5M break fee is very small ...more

Gibbons, I think you are reading way too much into this.  My guess the share price is where it is because it is NIGERA.  The same reason that it took forever to reach $2.00 when it was making good $ and paying a very high dividend.  Had it been in US or CA it would have been a $5+ stock at that point. In addition, it is to MW's advantage to keep share price low.  When the ...more

You were doing great right up to the point where you got snotty.  Isn't that an indication of doubt on your behalf?
Comment by bxju on May 12, 2015 1:31pm
I was not trying to be snotty... It is my, like others, frustraation with you assuming things and finding one new thing after another negatuve about the deal or MW or MMT.   You are now assuming I am doubting? What am I doubting?  I think the deal will be finalized and my shares were bought weeks ago and just by sheer luck of my "bet", bought near the 90 day low with a few ...more
