Blue lgoon ownership

AXY owns two-thirds of the Iceland operating electricity plants.
HS Orca, in turn, owns 30% of Blue Lagoon.

Therefore AXY has an ownership of 20% of Blue Lagoon.

The value of this ownership is unknown to me but some of the numbers
discussed seem a bit outlandish.

Is my understanding correct re ownership?

LucasKnight, The valuation for Blue Lagoon has a wide range. The Seeking Alpha article I posted pens an $80M-120M CAD (~$60-$90USD) valuation for Alterra: "Through its 66.6% ownership in HS Orka, which in turn owns a 30% stake in the Blue Lagoon, Alterra recognized $7.669M in equity income, which means the resort generated $38M in earnings for 2016. When you factor in the explosive ...more

I cannot argue (with conviction) about the valuation of Blue Lagoon. My sense is that something is amiss.  Seekingalpha is not a source that an investor should use for getting data.  Almost anyone can post any drivel there and they sometimes do. I cannot believe that the value of 100% of Blue Lagoon is worth $160m to $200m.  On a comparative basis that (100% basis) would ...more

Conservative estimate of $50M. I do agree with materialsgirl, in that, i do not believe an operator would pay more than $150M for the asset regardless of its appeal. However, in this world where firms are valued in the Billions on negative cashflow, who can deny that some posters are accurate in their assumptions? Aside, i do see some of the most influential investors and company builders in the ...more

The US based private equity group Blackstone, just put together an offer for the 30% stake in Blue Lagoon. - The total transaction value is $106 million, which values Alterra’s stake in the spa at over $58 million. - This is over 50% higher than what Katusa had expected Alterra to get for its stake. - The problem is the Icelandic Pension Funds, which is a minority partner in HS Orka, don’t think ...more

Solid find RJ! Blackstone seems to be very interested in Alterra and its assets lately.   The price for the Blue Lagoon came in higher than I thought it would have (wow!).  Perhaps a third-party bid will help the market understand its value. Will this lead to Blackstone (or one of their funds) taking an overall position in Alterra? Thank you for sharing, Bold Forbes
