Short position

Is it possible that the option holders are the ones shorting the stock?

May 27, 2015 0.33 1,100,000 1,100,000
August 30, 2015 0.30 200,000 200,000

June 23, 2016 0.45 2,050,000 2,050,000

I think most of the short selling started around 70+ cents and continued down to around 45 cents or so.  Is it possible that whoever holds the above 3.3M options is the culprit? If so, it's risk free shorting since they can cover by excercising their options. Just a thought.

Good point lazy. It makes sense, if you're allowed to cover with options?? I thought this wasn't an opportunity at all. Anyhow, it should be some of the big guys.. I think it stinks and asked management what they know about this manipulation. Haven't got any answer yet.....

most of the short selling started around 70+ cents  Where are you getting that from? A significant short position wasn't accumulated until October - MGP hit 60 cents briefly but the volumes weren't sufficient to result in a 4 million short until after the fall to 45 cents. All shorts cover if they have any sense - usually options are used. I don't know what options source ...more

I agree Hrattle -- The shorts have  2 million dollars or so on their bet at break even roughly . People just don't hap hazardly throw that kind of money out willy nilly  . They are betting negatively while Headway is being drilled ,insiders buying, coffers cashed up, madsen/monument bay/birch lake moving forward . Doesn't make sense to me but your statement a few weeks ago ...more

Maybe the folks here that are negative can give a brainstorming opinion on what the shorters know . ..........It has to be material along the lines of a situation as "Goldcorp not interested in Headway as it would be too deep to extract" . I am not a miner so don't laugh at that possible situation of what the shorters know .

WHAT DO THE SHORTERS KNOW THAT WE DON'T KNOW? I have no theory on this. A short must be betting on a big drop, there is too much risk for a few pennies. MGP still has a reasonable prospect of hitting big at Headway - I don't expect anything until March or April but I would never bet that Headway is a dud. Madsen/Monument are unlikely to to move the shareprice up or down for some time and ...more

Takeover would involve Sheldon no matter which way it is done  . He owns close to 40% .

The shorting situation here is as you all say. Making little sense.   In my opinion the next expected news from Headway is scheduled for mid January.   Mid January Headway update could be a game changer if we continue to progress as we have the last few weeks.   As far as the Headway is concerned if they prove the continuation Goldcorp will be interested. The whole purpose of ...more
